Family Promise of the Northland is a nonprofit organization committed “to help unemployed and underemployed homeless families in Clay and Platte Counties achieve self-sufficiency.”
Our main focus is to help our client families get back into permanent, sustainable housing and employment as quickly as possible. While in our program, participants receive food, shelter, and comprehensive support services. Client families also have the opportunity to develop enduring life skills through individualized case management by staff and through personal mentoring by volunteers.
The deeply-rooted community-oriented nature of Family Promise of the Northland enables us to provide a low-cost alternative to emergency shelters typically only found south of the Missouri river.
When we help parents meet their basic needs and give them the opportunity to create a plan to get back on their feet, they can begin to realize their dreams of providing a better life for their chidden. This improves the lives of future generations and also changes our community for the better.
The problem of poverty is complex. It won’t yield to a simple solution or a quick fix. It requires an integrated approach that begins with meeting immediate needs but reaches much further to help people achieve independence and to alleviate the root causes of poverty.
With the help of our generous donors, volunteers, and community partners, we provide our guests with the services and support they need to transition out of homelessness and back into a position of self-sufficiency.
